Life changing books

Here are some books that have taught me a hell of a lot about life.

What a book of female empowerment!! Inspiring. Motivational. Eye-opening. I’m not one to cry whilst reading very often but this had me in tears. I wish I’d read this a long time ago and will potentially read this again in the future, and I’ve never read a book twice!

This is the first Matt Haig book I’ve read and I’ve not read one I haven’t loved! Such a funny, lighthearted read that had me belly laughing so many times! I think I connect with Matt Haig’s books so much because he is also vegan and I feel we share a lot of the same values. So a lot of the dark humour about humanity can have me belly laughing for a long time!

This is the second book following The Salt Path, and whilst I loved that book, I found more life lessons in this one. I learnt to do things 100% for yourself and if it benefits others, that’s awesome, if not, that’s fine too because you put yourself first. It’s actually through learning this that I thought about creating this website. I absolutely love writing and documenting my thoughts. If someone else takes something from this that’s great, but if not, I’ve loved the process! And a big one from me for this book is to understand that whilst the world/environment isn’t in the best place (yes I suffer from eco-anxiety), spending all day being sad/anxious about it isn’t going to do anyone any good. Focus on what’s here right now and what you can do to do your bit.

Wow, did this hit me hard. This went through three stories of a snippet into people’s lives alongside their dogs. And anything involving dogs really gets to me! This book really opened me up to being accepting of everyone and being kind to everyone. You never know what someone has going on. And it doesn’t cost anything to smile at strangers.

Woowwwww! A book that had me crying on one page and laughing on the next. I really didn’t know what to expect when my mum lent me this book. And I was so pleasantly surprised. I loved the characters so much they will always have a special place in my heart. Plus my Mum even got to meet Bobby Palmer at Bert’s Books in Swindon!!!

Having suffered from a stint of very high anxiety, I’m glad I read this book a few years after that point. It allowed me to see what lessons that stage in my life had taught me and let me realise that without that having happened, I wouldn’t have done nearly as many things that have pushed me out of my comfort zone! It allowed me to make the beast that is anxiety, a beautiful beast.
